Sandustry Wiki — Complete Game Database

The community wiki for Sandustry, the 2D falling-sand factory automation game from Hooded Horse and Lantto Games. Every page in this wiki reflects Early Access v0.5.6 (September 3, 2026) and is updated as official patch notes are published. Browse the full materials database, machine reference, tech tree, and deep mechanic guides below.

Materials Database & Density Reference

Sandustry simulates material physics pixel-by-pixel in a custom Noita-engine descendant. Every material has a numeric density — heavier materials sink through lighter ones inside Shakers and settling chambers. The Density Calculator predicts the exact settling hierarchy for any combination of inputs, while the Settling Order table lists every material with its measured density value. Materials are grouped into four broad families: ores (Gold, Copper, Prismite), organics (Flowers, Spores, Voidbloom), thermal (Lava, Steam, Ice, Cinder), and refined (Void Juice, Fluxite, Prismaline Gas).

Machines, Recipes & Crafting Chains

The wiki covers every machine currently in Early Access: the Shaker (gravity settling to extract Gold), the Launcher (vertical material lift), the Kinetic Press (Burnt Slag crushing for bonus Gold Flakes), the Aura Extractor (Prismite to Prismaline Gas), the Advanced Refinery (Void Juice synthesis), the Flamethrower (Slag roasting), and the Artifact Locator (Void-Juice-powered radar). Each machine guide includes input/output ratios, automation blueprints, anti-clog configurations, and power requirements. The full reference lives at /machines.

Core Mechanics Explained

Sandustry is not a tile-based factory builder — it is a physics sandbox where every particle has mass, momentum, and friction. Five mechanic families define the game loop: fluid dynamics (water, lava, steam interact with terrain diagonally — see the Water Guide and Lava Guide), thermal chains (Cinder → Lava → Steam → Water cycle), biological husbandry (Lumlings produce Luminous Residue), logic circuits (Sensors and Gates for anti-clog automation), and chemistry (Void Juice and Fluxite synthesis). Learn these and your factory scales from a manual shovel to a fully autonomous Tier 6 megabase.

Progression Path & Tech Tree

New players should follow the First 2 Hours Walkthrough to establish a manual Shaker economy, then spend Gold unlocking the Tech Tree. The Research Tree guide ranks all 46 nodes by cost-effectiveness. Optimal unlock order: Shaker → Conveyor → Launcher → Kinetic Press → Flamethrower → Fluxite automation → Prismite extraction → Void Juice synthesis → Artifact Locator. Expect 30–40 hours to reach the first Tier 6 megastructure.
