Where is Copper in Sandustry? (Deep Underground Layers)
The single most common mistake new players make is searching for Copper Ore on the surface desert terrain. Copper Ore NEVER spawns above ground.
- Surface to Layer -20: Dirt, Sand, Stone, Surface Water.
- Deep Layers: Dense Copper Ore Veins & Scoria Cinder.
- Layer -90+: Prismite Crystal Cavities & Void Caverns.
Copper pixels display a distinctive reddish-bronze shimmering metallic texture embedded inside solid subterranean stone walls. Hit them with your shovel or place a mechanical Mining Drill against the node to extract raw ore chunks.
Operating the Induction Smelter (Extreme Thermal Chamber)
Raw Copper Ore cannot be used directly in crafting. It must be melted in an Induction Smelter. Unlike basic processing machines, the Smelter requires an active external heat source:
Direct Directional Thermal Injection
Aim a Thermal Flamethrower directly at the base of the Smelter. This generates an intense heat cone to liquefy Copper Ore as soon as it arrives on the conveyor belt.
Zero-Fuel Passive Geothermal Bed
Ignite Scoria Cinder with a flame torch to create a permanent Lava pool, then position the Smelter directly above the lava for permanent, zero-fuel continuous operation.
Casting Power Bricks with the Copper Mold
Once Copper Ore melts into glowing orange Liquid Copper (Density 180), attach a Copper Mold to the output spout. The mold shapes the molten metal into solid Power Bricks as it cools:
Pro Tip: Power Bricks are solid and can be transported along standard high-speed conveyor belts. Build a vertical elevator with a Material Launcher to lift Power Bricks back to your surface assembly hub.
